Charitable giving is an important aspect of the culture at Transamerica Life Canada. We believe that sharing our prosperity greatly enriches the communities we live and work in, and pays returns that are measured in more than just dollars. Our charitable giving program, in the spirit of hope, provides the framework for our contributions, with a defined selection process and careful screening by a committee of employees. The committee's decisions are guided by our program's mission statement:

Transamerica Life Canada's in the spirit of hope is committed to improving the quality of Canadian lives by donating funds to charitable organizations dedicated to the prevention and elimination of heart disease, stroke, cancer and diabetes.

This mission statement enables the company to focus its charitable giving efforts on those organizations that target the diseases that most greatly affect the lives of our customers and of all Canadians.

Is your organization eligible?

	Must be a federally registered charity with the Canadian Revenue Agency
	Funding requests must be applied to projects or programs that take place within communities of Canada
	Charitable organizations that provide direct-impact community service
	Organizations dedicated to the prevention and elimination of heart disease, stroke, cancer and diabetes
	Administration costs do not exceed 20% of total budget

We do not fund:

	Organizations outside Canada or Canadian-based organizations that use money for initiatives outside Canada
	Organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, gender, religion or lifestyle
	Lobby or special interests groups
	Duplication of direct or indirect donations to the same organization (e.g. Agencies supported by the United Way)
	Political or fraternal organizations, service clubs, third parties raising funds for charity
	Individual pursuits
	Direct funding for universities, colleges, private (fee based), elementary or secondary schools
	Endowment, memorial, advertising or promotional campaigns
	Travel-related events, including student trips or tours
	The creation or repair of statues, monuments, art work or beautification projects
	Projects related to the development, repair and maintenance of building structures
